Vincent Kartheiser Accused of Misconduct on the Titans Set
Earlier this week, Vincent Kartheiser made his Titans debut as Dr. Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow in the second episode of the show’s third season. However, a new report from Deadline alleges that Kartheiser’s on-set conduct resulted in “at least two complaints” during the shoot. His actions also prompted Warner Bros. Television to order two separate internal investigations.
The report doesn’t specify which Titans cast or crew members took issue with Kartheiser’s conduct. Regardless, he allegedly engaged in “disruptive, juvenile behavior” and made “inappropriate comments” throughout production on season 3. Kartheiser’s initial “verbal comments and outbursts” compelled the first investigation. WB’s Labor Relations department concluded that these actions “didn’t rise to the level of termination,” but Kartheiser was ultimately “reprimanded” by the studio.
Near the end of season 3’s production, the department investigated a second complaint against Kartheiser. As a result, the studio hired a representative to monitor his behavior on the set. Other claims of misconduct were reportedly investigated as well, but they were never corroborated.
Deadline also speculates that these allegations may be why Kartheiser has been largely absent from Titans’ marketing campaign as well as the show’s publicity circuit. Whatever the case, he probably won’t return to the series if HBO Max moves forward with another season. In the meantime, Warner Bros. has declined to comment on the allegations. But Kartheiser’s camp issued its own statement on the matter:
“Vincent Kartheiser vehemently denies the allegations,” a spokesperson for the actor said in a statement to Deadline on Friday. “Warner Bros investigated this matter and made clear to Mr. Kartheiser its expectations for behavior on the set, and he agreed to comply with their directives.”
The first three episodes of Titans season 3 are currently available to stream on HBO Max.
