After its phenomenal theatrical debut, fans are already wondering when the digital and streaming release dates for 28 Years Later will arrive. While the film is just heating up at the box office, there are some predictions about when it will be more widely available.
So, here’s everything to know about when the third installment in the 28 Days Later franchise could become available to watch at home.
When is 28 Years Later’ digital release date expected?
28 Years Later is expected to arrive on digital platforms by late July 2025.
After decades, the sequel to the famous 28 Days Later arrived in theatres on June 20, 2025. It has also garnered great critical response upon release. But now, fans are desperate to have it available to them at their homes. Thankfully, this may not be very far away.
While there has been no announcement about a digital release or streaming release yet, Sony’s previous release pattern may give away some hints. The production giant usually waits for one month to six weeks before making their films available on VOD. For Instance, Sony’s recent entry, Until Dawn, debuted on VOD in less than a month.
However, since 28 Years Later was much more highly anticipated, it may have a longer theatrical run and thus, a later digital release date. Nevertheless, six weeks seems to be a sensible estimate. Hence, perhaps the film will be available on VOD platforms by the end of July.
Where will 28 Years Later stream and when?
28 Years Later could arrive for streaming on Netflix between the end of September and mid-October 2025.
Judging by Sony’s approach from the past, Danny Boyle’s directorial may take as long as 60-90 days to become available for streaming. This is what happened with Sony’s more high-profile releases like Venom: The Last Dance. The Tom Hardy-led film landed in theaters on October 25, 2024, but arrived on streaming platforms four months later on February 25, 2025.
Going by Sony’s previous release pattern, 28 Years Later could arrive on streaming sometime in late September or early October. Moreover, it is expected to arrive on Netflix. Given Sony’s deal with the streaming giant, it is the streaming destination for most of their releases. Thus, the Aaron Taylor-Johnson film should not be any different.
However, those who want to catch 28 Years Later faster still have the option of watching it in nearby theaters.
