Daredevil: Born Again‘s creator has addressed why the show hasn’t incorporated any notable cameos and doesn’t feature any crossovers with the wider MCU. There have been no appearances from major heroes from other movies or TV shows, despite fan demand to include characters like Spider-Man. Now, in a recent interview ahead of Season 2’s release, the showrunner behind the Disney+ series explained why major crossovers haven’t happened and are unlikely to.
Daredevil: Born Again showrunner on why there are no major crossovers
While speaking to SFX Magazine, Dario Scardapane admitted his interest in the possibility of Daredevil: Born Again having crossovers with other major MCU characters. However, he stressed it wouldn’t happen despite that and his fascination for Marvel Comics stories, adding, “That’s been kind of a fun and challenging thing” (via Deadline).
He acknowledged the MCU’s expansive world and that the television sphere had crossovers. Scardapane added, “We’ve seen Daredevil in other shows; there are other characters that are going to be popping up in movies and stuff, and that all goes into the larger MCU of it all.”
Scardapane then humorously explained Born Again’s nature as a self-contained project. He said, “The joke we make is, ‘Oh, those guys are uptown – we’re downtown!’ We kind of have a pocket that’s in this world of Hell’s Kitchen, in this world of New York.” He further stated, “I always think that maybe these characters take little vacations into the larger world but the story that we’re focusing on is really granular.”
Daredevil: Born Again has not featured crossover appearances from major MCU characters so far. However, the show hasn’t avoided mentioning them. In Episode 2, “Optics,” Kingpin alluded to Spider-Man while voicing his distaste for vigilantism. Meanwhile, Episode 5, “With Interest,”/ saw Daredevil meeting Kamala Khan’s (Ms. Marvel) father, Yusuf.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 arrives on Disney+ on March 24, 2026.
