
Marvel Studios is bringing its mutants into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with a new X-Men movie. The studio has already assembled several notable actors, and production is expected to begin in early 2027.
According to Deadline, director Jake Schreier is leading the X-Men reboot, which is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2028. It will introduce a new lineup of actors playing familiar Marvel characters, including Sadie Sink as Jean Grey and Adam Driver as the villain Mister Sinister.
Who else is starring in the new X-Men MCU movie?
Marvel Studios has confirmed several major casting choices for the upcoming X-Men reboot. Alongside Sink and Driver, the film will feature Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Kit Connor as Scott Summers (Cyclops), and Samara Weaving as Emma Frost.
Further, Inde Navarrette will play Rogue, while Maya Boyd has been cast as Ororo Munroe, also known as Storm. Asa Germann will portray Warren Worthington III, or Angel.
Sadie Sink is joining the project after her breakout run as Max Mayfield in Stranger Things. She has also appeared in The Whale and the Fear Street films. Her casting as Jean Grey follows her appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, placing her mutant character in the MCU before the team’s standalone movie.
Driver, meanwhile, is known for playing Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy and earning Academy Award nominations for BlacKkKlansman and Marriage Story. In the upcoming Marvel film, he will play Nathaniel Essex, better known as Mister Sinister, a classic X-Men villain associated with genetic experimentation and the pursuit of mutant evolution.
The new X-Men film is being written by Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo are writing the new X-Men film, with Michael Lesslie also credited as a writer. Marvel has not announced a full plot for the reboot.
