X-Men MCU Reboot Movie Rumor Is Bad News for Professor X & Christopher Abbott Fans

A new rumor about the upcoming X-Men MCU reboot hints at bad news for fans. This comes after the latest claim from an industry scooper, which signals bad news for Professor X and Christopher Abbott fans in the upcoming movie.

In a tweet on X, industry scooper @MyTimeToShineH suggested Professor X won’t lead the new X-Men movie. Referring to Abbott’s latest comments on the upcoming reboot, the scooper wrote, “Probably cuz he’s not the lead.”

This follows Entertainment Tonight‘s interview with Abbott at the East of Eden premiere. When inquired about his MCU debut with X-Men, the actor said, “I haven’t read anything…nothing, I’m not even being coy, I haven’t read anything. But I’m excited to work with Jake Schreier; I think he’s a great director, and that cast is really, really good. I can’t wait. I love X-Men.”

Putting the industry scooper’s tweet in context with Abbott’s comments, it sounds like Professor X might not be playing the lead in this upcoming X-Men adaptation. If these rumors prove true, it’s still unclear who will lead Marvel’s new mutant superhero reboot.

Who else is starring in the new X-Men movie besides Christopher Abbott?

The new X-Men movie brings a star-studded ensemble for fans to see. So far, Marvel and X-Men fans worldwide widely deem the reboot’s confirmed cast nothing short of perfect.

The movie’s cast includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Scott Summers (aka Cyclops), Samara Weaving as Emma Frost (aka the White Queen), Maya Boyd as Ororo Munroe (aka Storm), Inde Navarette as Anna Marie (aka Rogue), Adam Driver as Nathaniel Milbury (aka Mister Sinister), and Asa Germann as Angel, besides Abbott as Professor X.

Marvel’s X-Men reboot film is currently scheduled to hit the screens on May 5, 2028.
