Santa Monica Studio’s creative director Cory Barlog is also executive producing Amazon’s God of War adaptation alongside Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Yumi Yang, Roy Lee. Jeff Ketcham serves as a co-executive producer on the project.
God Of War follows the story of Kratos, a spartan warrior who made a pact with the Greek god of war, Ares. Before being killed off by an enemy, Ares gave Kratos the power of the Blades of Chaos to vanquish almost anyone who stood in his way in the name of the gods. After finding out that Ares lied to him, leading him to kill his own wife and daughter, Kratos went on a rampage to enact revenge on all of Olympus.
After realizing that Zeus was his father and wanted to kill him as well, Kratos ended up butchering him and fleeing to the Nordic region. Santa Monica Studio’s God Of War games pit Kratos against Norse foes while he journeys to spread his late new wife’s ashes with his son, Atreus.
