David Harbour has spent a decade sharing the screen with Millie Bobby Brown in Stranger Things. But their creative partnership is far from over. Harbour revealed that reuniting with his former co-star for a new Netflix spy drama felt like a natural next step. It was driven by a dynamic that continues to evolve beyond Hawkins, Indiana.

Speaking at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, David Harbour explained why he jumped at the chance to work alongside Millie Bobby Brown again. The duo, who played Jim Hopper and Eleven across five seasons of Stranger Things, will lead an untitled series. It centers on a disgraced FBI agent forced back into the field after his estranged daughter, also an FBI agent, goes missing during a mission.
“I go anywhere in the world and people know the relationship of Hopper and Eleven,” Harbour told E! News. “There’s something about that I thought was so special,” he added.
Rather than leave that chemistry in the past, Harbour wanted to repurpose it. “It really is a working relationship, where we love what we bring out in each other. You’re in service of a greater story, and we both know how to do that and think about that and talk about that,” he continued. The actor added that the bond extends beyond craft. “I love what we have together and I love to be able to see her on a daily basis,” Harbour explained.
Both David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown will executive produce the series. Brown’s husband, Jake Bongiovi, also joins as an executive producer, while Emmy-winning Adolescence writer Jack Thorne, who previously collaborated with Brown on the Enola Holmes films, is penning the script.
Harbour said the project has already taken shape in unexpected ways. “It’s very unexpected and we’ve come up with something that I’m very very proud of,” he noted. “We’ve gotten two scripts in already and I’m really, really excited about it.”
With production moving forward, Harbour and Brown are a testament to the fact that some on-screen partnerships don’t end when the credits roll.
