‘Deadpool 3’ Director Shawn Levy Reveals How Hollywood Strikes Helped The Film

Deadpool 3 was one of the many films delayed by the Hollywood strikes. However, according to director Shawn Levy, the delays were a blessing in disguise for the Marvel threequel.

The recently concluded SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes put all of Hollywood to a stop for several months. As the actor’s strike outlasted the writers, many creatives were left sitting around waiting for studios to come back to the table with a good deal. Luckily, for creators like Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy, this allowed them to become more connected with their upcoming projects:

“We’re happily back at work, and now that we know it’s coming out next summer, we are working our asses off to make the best movie possible, and it’s feeling good,” Levy revealed in a recent interview with Deadline. “It does feel like we’re back at it freshly and more deeply informed about what this movie wants to be.”

It certainly seems as though Deadpool 3 is being made with all of the love and care expected from the capstone of such an iconic trilogy. It’s clear the Hollywood strikes didn’t kill the passion director Shawn Levy and the rest of his crew have for this project. Hopefully, it’ll be worth the wait once it drops in Summer 2024.

Who else is attached to the Deadpool threequel?

Shawn Levy is directing Deadpool 3 after working with Ryan Reynolds on Free Guy and The Adam Project. The upcoming Marvel Studios project also marks a reunion between Levy and Hugh Jackman as the two worked together on Real Steel.

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are developing the Deadpool 3 script after penning the first two installments in the series. The Molyneux sisters worked on a previous draft of the project.

Deadpool 3 is currently expected to release July 26, 2024. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
