Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was the final dance for the MCU’s most loveable team of misfits. Yet it seems James Gunn has hopes the series will continue without him.
With James Gunn, the mind behind the Guardians of the Galaxy series, leaving Marvel to run the DC Universe, many fans expected Vol 3. to be the end of the team in the MCU. However, it seems the Guardians may have a future after all, with Gunn expressing hope to see the franchise continue without him at the helm:
“Kevin and I get along really well,” Gunn revealed in a recent post on Threads. “Although some characters won’t return, I would love for GotG to continue with the current+ members and would trust Kevin to choose the right person for it.”
Given the hectic nature of Marvel’s Multiverse saga, especially with Jonathan Majors being ousted as the next big bad, it’s not likely the Guardians of the Galaxy will return to the MCU anytime soon. However, James Gunn has certainly left the door open for fans to hope. Sometimes, that’s all comic fans need!
