Ha. Ha. Ha.
Spider-Man and The Lighthouse star Willem Dafoe becomes The Joker in a creepy fan-made image for Robert Pattinson’s The Batman universe.
Willem Dafoe is no stranger to playing twisted, intimidating characters, but this new artwork depicts the actor as the next Joker to taunt Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne in The Batman. Rumors have swirled since last year that director Matt Reeves is planning to use the classic DC Comics villain in a future sequel to the film, but there’s been no word on whether he’s made progress with ideas for a second film. But that’s hardly surprising since The Batman was hit by delays and problems throughout production because of the ongoing global crisis.
The concept of Willem Dafoe as the Joker comes from Instagram user “ryans.reviews” and takes its cues from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, which saw Batman hurl a batarang into Joker’s eye after killing numerous civilians. There’s no denying that Dafoe has the range to pull off a role like the Joker, and it’d be fascinating to see what he’d do with the iconic villain opposite Robert Pattinson in the grimy new version of Gotham City that we briefly saw in the first trailer for The Batman. You can see Willem Dafoe as the Clown Prince of Crime below.
What do you think of the design? Would you like to see Robert Pattinson work with Willem Dafoe again in The Batman? Is Willem Dafoe a good pick for the Joker? Sound-off in the comments!
The plot of The Batman is being kept under lock and key, but we know the film will follow Robert Pattinson as a younger version of Bruce Wayne, chronicling Batman during his second year as the Dark Knight of Gotham City. The Batman will also show off the hero using his skills as a detective more than what we’ve seen before in previous versions of the hero. It is also expected to be the first installment in a new trilogy of films starring Pattinson.
Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
The Batman is currently scheduled to open in theaters on March 4, 2022. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the Joker, Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson, and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content.
