In a celebration of all things Bat-related on Batman Day, The Flash director Andy Muschietti treated his social media followers to behind-the-scenes photos of not one, not two, but three iconic Batmen from his recent film: Ben Affleck, Michael Keaton, and the most surprising inclusion, George Clooney.
George Clooney, whose brief Bruce Wayne cameo at the film’s end took many by surprise, particularly stands out in the set. After all, his involvement was a closely guarded secret —so much so that early CinemaCon screenings had no trace of Clooney’s reprisal of his DC Comics role.
In addition to the Clooney snapshot, Muschietti released photos of the film’s lead Batman actors, Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton. Both Affleck and Keaton played central roles in The Flash, each bringing their unique rendition of Gotham’s protector to the forefront.
Batman’s cinematic journey continues to evolve, with two upcoming major titles to anticipate. Matt Reeves is set to helm The Batman: Part II, building upon his Gotham crime saga. Additionally, the Caped Crusader will soar in The Brave and the Bold, a fresh venture in the newly minted DC universe, masterminded by James Gunn and Peter Safran.
The Flash’s DC Universe future
Warner Bros. Discovery already has a script for a potential sequel to The Flash, written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, the man behind the two Aquaman movies starring Jason Momoa. However, James Gunn and Peter Safran did not discuss the Flash sequel during their DC Universe presentation.
Directed by Andy Muschietti from a script written by Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson, The Flash is inspired by the Flashpoint comic book storyline, which followed Barry Allen as he navigated an altered DC Universe. Written by Geoff Johns and penciled by Andy Kuber, Flashpoint radically altered the status of the DC Comics universe and led to the launch of the New 52 titles.
In addition to Ezra Miller, The Flash also features Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as two separate versions of Batman, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Antje Traue as Faora-Ul and Sasha Calle as Supergirl.
