This isn’t a board game…this is an operating table. And you are the surgeon. Metaphorically. In actual fact, it is The Dark Knight Returns board game, allowing the player to step into the boots of old, angry Bruce Wayne. It’s Cold War-era Gotham City, and the Doomsday Clock is ticking. Instead of leveling up, play a game of attrition. Take part either in standalone missions or one long campaign where the results progressively take their toll. Whichever one is chosen, the player goes alone, as this is a board game for one person.
With 11 Batarang dice, 33 character dice, 170 tokens, 19 standees, and 12 card types, this is no game for wimps. Only a sharp detective mind should embark on Batman‘s big comeback missions. Spring for a more deluxe edition and get game tokens sculpted in the style of Frank Miller artwork.
The base game starts at a $60 pledge, with $99 for a more deluxe edition. In the extremely likely event that the game gets fully funded, there will be stretch goals. And eventually it should be available at specialty retailers, but Kickstarter backers get their games first.
Will you be among them? Have you waited for a chance to become Frank Miller’s G-D Batman? Let us know in comments below!
