Stranger Things’ Spin-off Show Returning Sooner Than Fans Thought, Release Date Set

The Stranger Things animated spin-off series is returning for a second season much sooner than expected. The first season premiered on April 23, 2026, with ten episodes on Netflix.

Netflix has announced that Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 Season 2 will be released on September 17, 2026. The streamer also shared a new set of images for the upcoming season, offering fans a glimpse of what to expect.

The animated spin-off show is set in Hawkins during the winter of 1985, between Season 2 and Season 3 of the original series. The original characters face new monsters while trying to unravel a mysterious paranormal threat.

What to expect from Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 Season 2 on Netflix

Season 2 picks up immediately after the events of the Season 1 finale. After defeating the Horde Queen, the Hawkins gang attempts to settle back into normal life while preparing for upcoming Valentine’s Day festivities. However, peace is short-lived as a strange new phenomenon grips the town, where mysterious flowers begin blooming across Hawkins.

The flowers may seem to cause no harm, but they contain a supernatural secret. The problem gets even bigger when Nikki and Max plan to sell them all across Hawkins. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, mysterious “ghostly” apparitions and a swarm of hate sprites. The Hawkins gang must uncover what is causing these strange events before another gate to the Upside Down opens.

Brooklyn Davey Norstedt reprises his voice for Eleven, Luca Diaz voices Mike, and Benjamin Plessala voices Will. Braxton Quinney returns as Dustin, Elisha “EJ” Williams as Lucas, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, and Odessa A’zion as Nikki Baxter.

Rounding out the supporting cast are Brett Gipson as Jim Hopper, Janeane Garofalo as Anna Baxter, Jeremy Jordan as Steve Harrington, Alessandra Antonelli as Nancy Wheeler, Valeria Rodriguez as Rosario, and Jack Griffo as Jeff.

Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 Season 2 will take the characters to familiar locations, like Hawkins Middle School and the Palace Arcade. The story also explores new territories.
