A new report suggests Avengers: Doomsday could reveal a catastrophic event that reshapes the X-Men. The studio has kept many plot details under wraps. Its recent first trailer may have quietly added weight to those claims without revealing the full picture.
Which X-Men reportedly survived the incursions in Avengers: Doomsday
According to Industry Insider James Mack, Avengers: Doomsday will reportedly reveal that most of the X-Men were killed during multiversal incursions before the events of the movie. As per the report, the surviving X-Men include Professor X, Magneto, Cyclops, Mystique, Wolverine, Beast, Gambit, Nightcrawler, and Deadpool.
The report claimed that the X-Men universe has been hit by repeated incursions that destroy entire realities. To survive, they were reportedly forced to attack other universes before incursions could wipe out their own. That leaves only a handful of X-Men, several of whom appear in the Avengers: Doomsday trailer.
The report also claims one additional X-Men character will make a cameo appearance in Doomsday, although the character’s identity hasn’t been revealed. While the Doomsday trailer featured X-Men characters, the opening scene showed Professor X gazing out a window of the X-Mansion as a planet exploded in the distance. Some fans point to this scene as a possible glimpse of the incursions actually happening on screen.
The trailer also shows Professor X and Magneto sharing a quiet, serious emotional scene. Some reports claim that both could be among the earliest casualties once the film begins, similar to how Avengers: Infinity War picked up with major character deaths.
While Marvel has a way around keeping hidden secrets in trailers, fans should take these claims with a grain of salt as they are unofficial.
