Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Black Adam’ Tracking For $55-70 Million Box Office Debut

Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming DC Extended Universe film Black Adam is tracking for a $55-70 million debut at the box office.

With a month away from its release in theaters, Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming film Black Adam now has its long-range box office opening weekend tracking from BoxOffice Pro. The film, which will be the first DC Extended Universe film to hit theaters since last year’s The Suicide Squad looks to further expand the franchise and alter the power hierarchy.

According to BoxOffice Pro, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam is currently tracking at around $55-70 million for its opening weekend. The report claims that thanks to Johnson’s social media presence, brand awareness for the film is comparable to the movie star’s current biggest opening weekend as the headline star, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, which opened to $60 million, and far ahead of Morbius, which opened to $39 million.

Black Adam looks to have a lot going for it when it comes to its box office prospects. Naturally, with Dwayne Johnson headlining, audiences are already interested given that he’s one of the last remaining movie stars whose name alone still attracts viewership. Also, it will be the first major superhero blockbuster to hit theaters since July’s Thor: Love and Thunder, and will also have at least three weeks to itself prior to the release of Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Here is the synopsis for Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam:

“Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.”

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra from a script written by Adam Sztykiel and Rory Haines & Sohrab Noshirvani, the DCEU film stars Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, Bodhi Sabongui, and Pierce Brosnan.

Black Adam opens in theaters on October 21, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming film as well as its box office prospects, and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more original video content.
