HBO Max has debuted the emotional trailer for Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.
Harry Potter is back! Kind of. After the success of the Friends reunion, HBO Max is set to debut a similar variety program for everyone’s favorite wizard: Harry Potter. The Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts will see key cast members and creatives chatting about the enduring legacy of the franchise, as well as touching upon key moments from the ever-popular series.
The reunion special has long been teased and the first trailer is sure to excite fans. In the trailer, fans can see familiar Harry Potter stars like Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint recount the various film productions. If hearing them chat wasn’t enough to excite you, the entire reunion special will take place on the set of Hogwarts.
The special is set to debut on New Year’s Day, making it the perfect family-friendly affair to watch as you ring in the New Year. From what we’ve seen, most of the Harry Potter reunion will focus on the past of the franchise, but it would be interesting to see the stars discuss the potential future of their characters. Fans have been hoping to see the lead trio reprise their roles in a future Cursed Child cinematic adaptation, which takes place some twenty years after the original series.
The next major installment in the Harry Potter franchise will be Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. The upcoming film recently dropped its first trailer for what is planned to be the third film of five from JK Rowling.
Directed by David Yates from a screenplay written by JK Rowling and Steve Kloves, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Callum Turner, William Nadylam, Poppy Corby-Tuech, Jessica Williams, Jude Law, and Mads Mikkelsen.
