Sony has released an explosive new trailer for Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg’s upcoming Uncharted adaptation.
Ever since Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune first debuted on the PlayStation 3 in 2007, Sony has been trying to adapt the action-adventure game for the big screen. After years of being stuck in development hell, Sony is finally set to release their live-action Uncharted film early next year. Starring Tom Holland as the iconic Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as his best friend/side-kick/father-figure Sully, the film is set to tackle an original story.
The brand new trailer shows the early moments where Nathan Drake and Sully meet as well as some of the film’s chaotic action sequences, which have been inspired by the games. The trailer also gives insight into Antonio Banderas’ villain, who is searching for the same treasure as Nathan Drake and co.
The trailer ends with Mark Wahlberg’s character rocking a mustache, similar to the one seen in the games. It’s a bit jarring to see Wahlberg with the stache but it is an integral feature of the iconic character.
Based on the PlayStation video game series of the same name, the film is set to chronicle the first encounter between Tom Holland’s Nathan Drake and the fortune seeker and businessman Victor Sullivan. The film is reportedly influenced by a sequence in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
Directed by Venom helmer Reuben Fleischer from a script written by Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Rafe Judkins, Uncharted is being produced by Sony PlayStation Productions, with Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan producing alongside Charles Roven, Avi Arad, Alex Gartner, and Ari Arad.
Uncharted will be released in theaters on February 18th, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Sony’s Uncharted and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more video content!
